Are You Settling or Have Your Priorities Changed?

Updated: Apr 26, 2022

There are times we start to reflect on our current relationship and notice that it looks different than what we once thought we wanted.

Sometimes, this is a sign that you've veered too far from your values and that your current relationship is no longer a good fit for you.

But sometimes, what you're actually noticing is how you've evolved, changed, and even matured over time.

Did you used to prioritize dating attractive people with a certain height, physique, or pedigree?

Maybe now you realize your current partner doesn't "check those boxes," yet you're really happy with them.

What gives? Have you settled?

I invite you to take a look inward and decide if you've settled or if, in reality, your priorities have shifted.

Priorities SHOULD shift over time.

Especially if we're comparing your late teens/early 20s to your early 30s.

Heck, I used to want a guy who liked to go out and party 3 nights a week, but that is DEFINITELY not what I want now!

Maybe your current partner isn't over 6' tall or didn't graduate with a certain degree, but they respect you, treat you well, make you laugh, and encourage you to be the best version of yourself. In this case, I say way to go!

Or...maybe you've realized that your current relationship is based on outdated priorities and you'd rather seek out someone who checks other boxes that feel more important in this phase of your life. In this case, a breakup may be in order.
